What our research says

Google Antigravity

Worth trying for developers who want Google's own agent stack across a desktop manager, terminal and IDE, especially anyone who relied on Gemini CLI and has to move. The free tier is enough to evaluate it, but heavy daily use points to a Google AI or enterprise plan. Teams standardized on another vendor's agent have little reason to switch yet.

Pros

  • Free individual tier that includes the CLI and the IDE
  • Four surfaces share one agent harness: desktop app, CLI, SDK and IDE
  • Business route through Google Cloud with spend caps and admin controls
  • Python SDK for building custom agents

Cons

  • Free tier uses weekly rate limits that are not quantified
  • Pro and Ultra pricing is not shown on the Antigravity site
  • Gemini CLI users were given a short migration window when it was retired

TRAE

A capable AI IDE for developers who want an agent-first editor with a free entry point and a clear dollar-per-usage ladder. The new TraeWork agent widens it beyond code, but that part is young. Anyone with strict data-residency or vendor rules should read the terms and privacy policy first, since the service is run by a ByteDance-linked entity.

Pros

  • Free plan with Auto mode and a monthly autocomplete allowance
  • Clear Pro, Pro+ and Ultra ladder with usage stated in dollars
  • Desktop builds for macOS, Windows and Linux (deb and rpm)
  • TraeWork adds web and iOS clients and up to 20 concurrent cloud tasks on Ultra

Cons

  • Free plan is limited to Auto mode and limited usage
  • Different models burn usage at different rates, which makes monthly cost hard to predict
  • Enterprise purchasing is routed through BytePlus rather than the Trae site
