Gemini Notebook is Google's source-grounded research workspace. You upload PDFs, Docs, Slides, web pages, YouTube links or pasted text, then ask questions and get answers that cite the exact passage they came from, plus derived artifacts like study guides, mind maps, timelines and the Audio Overview podcast format. Google renamed it from NotebookLM in July 2026 and gave every notebook a sandboxed cloud machine that can write and run code over your sources. It runs in a browser and in the Gemini mobile apps; the base tier is free with a Google account, while larger notebooks and wider model access come with paid Google AI plans.

Pros & cons of Gemini Notebook
The citation-per-answer discipline makes this the rare AI research tool where you can check every claim against the page it came from, and the free tier is generous enough for real work. The catch is dependence on Google's account and plan ladder: the code sandbox and the biggest notebooks only appear once you are paying for AI Pro or Ultra.
