The right tool when you need a specific human-painted look held consistently across a shot — it has real broadcast credits on Undone and Wednesday. Do not buy it expecting a text-prompt video generator; there is no prompt box driving the core effect.

Pros

  • deterministic texture synthesis produces far less temporal flicker than diffusion-based stylisation
  • actual production credits on broadcast animation, not just demo reels
  • the free tier is capped on resolution rather than watermarked, so free output is genuinely usable at 720p
  • offline command-line build for studios that cannot upload client footage

Cons

  • output quality is bounded by how well you paint the keyframe — it amplifies skill rather than replacing it
  • browser-only and desktop-only for the standard product, with nothing on mobile
  • breaks down when subjects rotate or occlude heavily between keyframes

Runway

One of the few AI video vendors with a full pipeline — generation, editing, upscaling, API — rather than a single model demo, and its film-industry adoption is real. The catch is credit economics: high-resolution generations drain a month's allowance quickly, so the advertised entry price rarely reflects working costs.
