What our research says

Dewstack

Better wired into AI tooling than most documentation platforms - an MCP endpoint that lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Claude Code search and fetch your docs is not something the older incumbents ship. The failed-search analytics are the standout feature. Priced above the usual small-team docs tool, with no free plan to soften the commitment.

Pros

  • MCP endpoint with OAuth lets assistants search and fetch documentation directly
  • FlowCapture Chrome extension records click-by-click steps into a draft guide
  • Analytics report searches that returned nothing, pointing at content gaps
  • Custom domain hosting and SmartDocs answer bot included on the published site

Cons

  • No free tier - $32/month annual is the floor
  • Estonian entity is small, with little public track record
  • Chatbot quality depends entirely on how complete your docs already are

Helpjuice

A mature, enterprise-ready knowledge-base tool with a long track record, which matters if you need SOC2/GDPR compliance and SSO out of the box. The catch is it's priced per-tier rather than per-seat and starts at $249 a month, well above lightweight wiki tools for small teams.

Pros

  • AI-assisted article drafting and updating
  • Search tolerates typos and rewording
  • Machine translation across 50+ languages
  • SOC2, GDPR, and SSO support for enterprise buyers

Cons

  • Entry tier starts at $249/month regardless of team size
  • Full AI suite requires stepping up to the $449/month tier
  • No public API confirmed on the marketing site
