What our research says

CorpusIQ

The interesting choice here is the KPI validation step: rather than letting a model interpret raw rows, CorpusIQ normalises figures against agreed definitions first, then cites the source. That addresses the specific way AI-over-your-data goes wrong. Read-only access removes a whole class of risk. It is priced per seat and is a small vendor, so the question is whether your forty tools are actually on the connector list.

Pros

  • Answers carry source citations, and OCR pulls figures out of PDFs, invoices and contracts
  • Numbers are validated against consistent KPI definitions before the model reasons over them
  • Read-only by design — no write path back into connected systems
  • Works inside ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Slack, or over MCP for agents and self-hosted models

Cons

  • No free tier; the 30-day trial is the whole evaluation window
  • Priced per user, so a wider rollout scales linearly in cost
  • The value depends entirely on whether your stack is in the 40-tool connector list
  • No Microsoft Copilot support, and in Microsoft Teams you must bring your own AI key

Hex

Hex fits data teams that write SQL and Python and want one place to explore, publish dashboards and give the rest of the company governed self-serve answers. A solo user who needs a quick spreadsheet-style chat over a CSV, or a company with no warehouse, will pay for much more than it uses.

Pros

  • SQL, Python and no-code cells in one reactive notebook
  • Analyses publish directly as dashboards and interactive apps
  • Agent answers are grounded in curated context with evals and spend observability
  • MCP server and REST APIs connect it to other tools and assistants

Cons

  • Per-editor pricing climbs quickly for larger teams; viewer-type Explorer seats are an Enterprise add-on
  • Larger compute profiles and GPUs cost extra per minute
  • SSO, audit logs and BYOK for model keys require Enterprise
