What our research says

Conductor

A tidy control room for developers who already use terminal coding agents and want to run several at once with clean isolation and a review step. It adds orchestration rather than its own model, so you still pay your agent providers. Anyone happy with a single agent in an editor will not gain much.

Pros

  • Free tier with local workspaces and bring-your-own subscriptions or keys
  • Each task isolated in its own workspace and branch
  • Supports Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode agents
  • SOC 2 Type II badge shown on the site

Cons

  • Desktop app is Mac-only
  • Cloud workspaces need the paid Pro plan
  • Cloud compute pricing is expected to move to usage-based billing

Munder Difflin

Munder Difflin is MIT-licensed and free at its core: the clones cost nothing beyond whatever Claude Code, Codex or Gemini plan you already pay for, and the orchestration, task board and memory are in the free app. Pro sells a different interface and local dictation rather than gating the multi-agent part, which is unusual for this category, but it is one person's project and all sales are final.

Pros

  • Core harness is free, open-source, and MIT-licensed rather than a gated trial
  • Runs locally on macOS, Windows and Linux, so code and keys stay on the machine
  • Coordinates twelve established coding-agent CLIs instead of building a new one
  • Pro is a fixed-term payment that never auto-renews

Cons

  • Built and maintained by one developer with no company behind it, a real continuity risk
  • Paid licences are non-refundable
  • Agents stop when your machine sleeps; remote control and hosted sandboxes are not out yet

Which one fits

Choose Conductor if you need

  • Developers juggling several features or bug fixes with coding agents at once
  • Teams that want agents in cloud sandboxes with shared, live workspaces
  • Claude Code and Codex users who want a diff-and-PR workflow around them

Choose Munder Difflin if you need

  • Developers already paying for Claude Code or Codex who want their agents coordinated rather than run one at a time
  • Solo builders juggling several projects, each in its own floor of agents
  • People who want local meeting transcription handed straight to their coding agents
