Browserbase vs Hyperbrowser

Two fact sheets from our own research, side by side — pricing, platforms, API access and status re-checked by us rather than quoted from the vendors. Browserbase starts at $20, Hyperbrowser at $0.00. Only Browserbase has a free tier. Both ship a public API.

What our research says

Browserbase

Browserbase removes the operational work of running headless Chrome at scale - proxies, fingerprinting, CAPTCHA, session storage - which is exactly the layer most agent-building teams don't want to own themselves. It's infrastructure, not a finished agent, so there's still integration work to do on top of it.

Pros

  • Automatic CAPTCHA solving and proxy/fingerprint handling out of the box
  • Free tier available to test before paying
  • Session replay and observability for debugging agent runs
  • Open-source Stagehand framework for the automation layer

Cons

  • Free tier is capped at just 1 browser hour, not enough for real workloads
  • Requires developer effort to wire into an actual agent - it's infrastructure, not an end-user tool
  • Overage billing on browser-hours can add up for high-volume use

Hyperbrowser

Hyperbrowser is infrastructure and is priced like it: a published per-unit rate card rather than a plan you have to guess at. Sessions, scraping endpoints and agent runners share one credit balance, which makes cost modelling straightforward until proxies enter the picture - proxy data at $10 a gigabyte will dominate any scraping bill. The subscription tiers are the one thing the site would not show us.

Pros

  • Full per-unit price list published in the docs, down to $0.001 a page
  • Connects with Playwright, Puppeteer or Selenium, so existing scripts move over unchanged
  • Stealth mode, proxy routing, multi-region sessions, static IPs, profiles and recordings are built in
  • Agent runners (HyperAgent, Browser Use, OpenAI computer-use) bill through the same credit balance

Cons

  • Proxy data at $10 per GB can dwarf every other line on the invoice
  • Directly purchased credits expire after 12 months
  • Subscription plan prices render in the browser and did not appear to a plain fetch
  • No company name, country or team is published on the site

Which one fits

Choose Browserbase if you need

  • Developers building browser-using AI agents
  • Teams scraping sites that block plain HTTP requests
  • Products that need agents to log in and act on behalf of users

Choose Hyperbrowser if you need

  • Running browser agents at scale without managing a browser fleet
  • Scraping sites that need stealth, proxy rotation or persistent logged-in profiles
  • Teams already on Playwright or Puppeteer who want a remote target
