Airtop vs Browserbase

Two fact sheets from our own research, side by side — pricing, platforms, API access and status re-checked by us rather than quoted from the vendors. Airtop starts at $29, Browserbase at $20. Both have a free tier. Both ship a public API.

What our research says

Airtop

Most browser-agent tooling falls over the moment a site needs a login; Airtop is built around that case, with a credential vault, proxies and CAPTCHA handling as first-class features. Compiling a plain-English description into deterministic code rather than replaying clicks is the right architectural bet for anything that has to run daily. The credit model is the blind spot — four published tiers, no published definition of a credit.

Pros

  • Authenticated browsing with a built-in password vault, proxies and CAPTCHA handling
  • Plain-English workflows compile to reusable deterministic code rather than brittle recordings
  • REST and GraphQL APIs, webhooks, plus n8n, Make, Zapier, Claude and Codex integrations
  • Up to 100 concurrent cloud sessions, with SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA compliance claimed

Cons

  • Credit consumption is never defined on the pricing page, so tier sizing is guesswork
  • The step from Starter to Professional is $29 to $189 a month with nothing between
  • The SOC 2 Type 2 report is only offered on the $558/month Enterprise tier
  • No legal entity name is published; the privacy policy lists only a San Jose mail-drop address

Browserbase

Browserbase removes the operational work of running headless Chrome at scale - proxies, fingerprinting, CAPTCHA, session storage - which is exactly the layer most agent-building teams don't want to own themselves. It's infrastructure, not a finished agent, so there's still integration work to do on top of it.

Pros

  • Automatic CAPTCHA solving and proxy/fingerprint handling out of the box
  • Free tier available to test before paying
  • Session replay and observability for debugging agent runs
  • Open-source Stagehand framework for the automation layer

Cons

  • Free tier is capped at just 1 browser hour, not enough for real workloads
  • Requires developer effort to wire into an actual agent - it's infrastructure, not an end-user tool
  • Overage billing on browser-hours can add up for high-volume use

Which one fits

Choose Airtop if you need

  • Teams whose automations must operate behind a login or a paywall
  • Agent builders who want a hosted browser instead of running headless Chrome themselves
  • Operations and marketing staff using the n8n, Make or Zapier connectors rather than code

Choose Browserbase if you need

  • Developers building browser-using AI agents
  • Teams scraping sites that block plain HTTP requests
  • Products that need agents to log in and act on behalf of users
