What our research says

Anna

Anna's distinguishing pitch is running as a local agent with memory that persists across devices and chat apps, rather than a purely cloud-hosted chatbot. Without a disclosed company name or pricing beyond a mention that a free tier exists, it is hard to assess who is accountable for the product or what it costs once the free tier is outgrown.

Pros

  • Runs as a local agent across macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon), Windows, and Linux, not just a web app
  • Reachable through Telegram, WeChat, and WhatsApp in addition to native apps
  • Delegates tasks to specialized sub-agents rather than handling everything in one general model, per its own description

Cons

  • No company name, headquarters, or legal entity is disclosed anywhere found on the site
  • No pricing page or paid-tier figures could be located beyond a mention that a free tier exists
  • A downloadable agent with broad task permissions from an unnamed vendor is a harder trust decision than a purely web-based tool

Microsoft Copilot

Copilot is the sensible default for people who live in Windows, Edge and Microsoft 365: it is already installed, it is free for ordinary use, and paying a Microsoft 365 subscription you may already have unlocks it inside Word and Excel. Judged purely as a chatbot it trails ChatGPT and Gemini on depth and features, so power users who are not tied to Office should pick on model quality, not on the taskbar button.

Pros

  • Free tier with web-grounded answers, image generation, file and photo understanding
  • Native apps on Windows, Mac, iOS and Android plus Edge, with one account carrying the conversation across them
  • Upgrade path reuses Microsoft 365 plans most households already pay for, from $9.99 a month
  • Clear consumer privacy and health-data policies published alongside the terms

Cons

  • Free usage is explicitly capacity-dependent, so limits move without notice
  • The Copilot name covers several different products, and the consumer one is the least capable
  • Family plan grants the AI features to the subscription owner only, not to the other five members
  • Copilot Pro was retired and folded into Microsoft 365 Premium, so older guides and price quotes are stale

Which one fits

Choose Anna if you need

  • Users who want an assistant that keeps context across macOS, Windows, Linux, and mobile rather than resetting per session
  • People who already message through Telegram, WeChat, or WhatsApp and want the assistant reachable there

Choose Microsoft Copilot if you need

  • Windows and Edge users who want an assistant that is already there and costs nothing for everyday questions
  • Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscribers who want AI drafting inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Households and students who need grounded web answers and image creation without another subscription
