What our research says

Activepieces

The strongest reason to pick it over Zapier or Make is the MIT licence: if the pricing stops working for you, you move the same flows onto your own hardware. The connector count is real and the free cloud tier is genuinely usable. The catch is credit metering — AI steps cost 2 to 20 credits each, so agent-heavy flows burn the allowance far faster than plain integrations do.

Pipedream has stopped being a workflow-automation tool: Workflows takes no new signups and shuts down on 31 March 2027, and the company is now the Workday-owned integration layer for AI agents. For developers who need per-user OAuth, thousands of ready tools and an MCP endpoint without building auth themselves, Connect is a mature option with a free development tier. Anyone looking for a Zapier-style automation builder should look elsewhere.
