Overview

About Vectra AI

Vectra AI sells a security platform that watches network traffic, identity providers, cloud accounts and SaaS applications for attacker behaviour after the initial breach — lateral movement, privilege abuse, data staging — and scores each entity so analysts work the riskiest hosts and accounts first. The vendor calls the detection layer Attack Signal Intelligence and claims 39 patents and coverage of more than 90% of MITRE ATT&CK techniques; a managed detection service and a REST API with SIEM and SOAR integrations sit alongside. Pricing is by quote only.

Editorial verdict

Pros & cons of Vectra AI

medium confidence

Vectra belongs on the shortlist of any security operations team buying network and identity detection at enterprise scale: the entity scoring genuinely trims the alert queue, the API is documented and versioned, and the Gartner placement is current. It is a six-figure, sales-led purchase with sensors to deploy, so a small company without a SOC — or one already standardised on an EDR vendor's bundled NDR — will not get value from it.

Pros

  • Entity-level risk scoring prioritises hosts and accounts rather than listing raw alerts
  • Coverage spans network, identity, cloud and SaaS from one platform
  • Versioned v3.x REST API with OAuth, a Postman collection and SIEM/SOAR integration guides
  • Named in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Network Detection and Response
  • Operating since 2011 with 600+ staff — low vendor risk for a long contract

Cons

  • No public pricing or trial; procurement is a sales cycle
  • Needs sensors and integrations deployed, so time to value is measured in weeks
  • Vendor claims such as '80%+ alert fidelity' are unaudited marketing figures
  • Overlaps with NDR modules that EDR and SIEM vendors now bundle

Best for

  • Enterprise SOCs that need detections across on-prem network, Entra ID, AWS and M365 in one queue
  • Teams integrating detections into a SIEM or SOAR through a documented REST API
  • Organisations in regulated sectors that want MDR backing from the same vendor

Not for

  • Small companies without analysts to act on prioritised detections
  • Teams that only want endpoint protection — this covers network, identity and cloud, not EDR

Watch out: Licensing scales with monitored entities and sensors, and the same product line is sold as SaaS or on-prem with different API tracks (RUX versus QUX) — confirm which deployment you are quoted, because the integrations and docs differ.
