Darktrace
Darktrace is the name most buyers mean by anomaly-based detection, and the autonomous response is the genuine differentiator: it acts on behaviour the vendor has never seen a signature for. The cost of that approach is tuning — a self-learning model needs weeks to settle and a team that will review what it flags, or the response policies get switched off. Mid-size and large estates with a staffed SOC get the value; small teams tend to pay for a console nobody watches.
Pros
- Detection is based on each organisation's own baseline, so it does not depend on signature updates
- Autonomous response can contain a session natively or through firewalls, EDR, SOAR and ITSM integrations
- One platform spans network, email, cloud, OT, identity and AI-tool usage
- Over 10,000 customers and 2,300+ staff; stable private ownership under Thoma Bravo since 2024
Cons
- No public pricing; everything goes through a demo and a sales quote
- Behavioural models need a learning period and ongoing tuning to keep false positives down
- Taken private at $5.3bn, so financials and roadmap are no longer disclosed publicly
- API and integration details are not described on the product pages
