Use tool ↗About TLDRly
TLDRly is a Chrome extension that produces one-click summaries of web pages, articles and YouTube videos, and can summarize any text you highlight, such as a long email or a Reddit thread. Summaries can be translated automatically into more than 40 languages, and the vendor says it uses Claude and ChatGPT models behind the scenes. It works on news sites, Wikipedia, Substack, Gmail and YouTube without copy-pasting or an account. The website FAQ calls it completely free; the Chrome Web Store listing, published by a Delaware LLC, keeps core summaries free and mentions premium options for heavier translation use.

Pros & cons of TLDRly
TLDRly does one job, one-click summaries and translation of whatever page or video you are on, and charges nothing for the core of it, unusual in a category full of credit-metered competitors. The trade-off is a thin operator footprint: the only named entity is an LLC on the store listing, the extension has a few hundred users and was last updated in November 2025, and the site and store disagree on whether paid options exist.
Pros
- Core summaries are free with no account or card
- Works across news sites, Wikipedia, Substack, Gmail and YouTube with one click
- Translates into 40+ languages
- Can summarize just a highlighted passage, not only the whole page
Cons
- Chrome-only, with no extension for other browsers or a mobile app found
- Small user base and no update since November 2025
- Website says fully free while the store listing mentions premium options, so the business model is unclear
Best for
- Quickly deciding whether a long article or video is worth your time
- Reading or watching content in a language you don't speak
- Anyone who doesn't want to manage a subscription for occasional summarizing
Not for
- Users who want a mobile app rather than a Chrome-only extension
- Anyone who needs guaranteed data-handling commitments and an active support channel
Watch out: The store listing mentions premium options without a published price, so translation limits or model access may change without notice on a page you can check.
