What our research says

Synthesia

The safe institutional choice for training video at scale — SCORM export and review workflows are what you are paying for, not the avatars themselves.

Pros

  • SCORM export and review workflows fit corporate training pipelines properly
  • A free Basic tier now exists, so the output can be tested before committing
  • Annual billing cuts the Starter seat from $29 to $18
  • Multi-language voiceover and dubbing are built in rather than bolted on

Cons

  • Paid credits are allocated per year, so a busy month can exhaust the budget
  • Avatar expressiveness trails HeyGen at comparable prices
  • Starter's roughly 120 minutes a year is thin for real course production
  • Unlimited minutes and the useful admin controls sit behind quote-only Enterprise

Vidocu

The pitch is that a single source recording should not have to be redone as a video, a help article and an SOP separately. Vidocu generates all three and lets you edit the drafts, which is a real saving for support and enablement teams. Video output is credit-metered and the entry tier's allowance is small enough to notice.

Pros

  • One source produces video, help articles, SOPs and training docs in parallel
  • AI recorder captures a workflow instead of you narrating it
  • Subtitles, voiceover, avatars and translation into 65-plus languages built in
  • Hosted knowledge centre publishes the written output
  • Developer API and MCP support for automating generation

Cons

  • Pro's 820 credits are about 16 minutes of video a month
  • Recordings are capped at 10 minutes on the entry tier
  • Named entity is Common Ninja Ltd., which is not obvious from the product branding
  • The jump from Pro to Business is $39 to $149
