What our research says

Sider

Sider puts a chat panel on top of whatever page you're on, so you can ask about an article or PDF without copying it into a separate tab. The catch is that heavier use beyond the free daily cap needs a paid tier, and pricing quoted across review sites is inconsistent, so the entry price is worth confirming before committing.

Pros

  • Works as a sidebar on any web page rather than a separate chat tab
  • Routes one prompt to several models (GPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Grok)
  • Ships native apps for iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac plus browser extensions
  • Can chat with PDFs and YouTube videos, not just plain text

Cons

  • Free tier is capped at a small number of daily uses
  • Independent pricing write-ups disagree on exact plan costs depending on where you check
  • No public API for developers

Summarize.ing

The output format is the selling point — segmented summaries plus mind maps and generated Q&A read better than the single wall of text most YouTube summarisers produce. The free tier is genuinely usable, but the paid jump buys throughput and a longer video ceiling rather than better analysis, and there is still no API.

Pros

  • Segmented summaries, highlights, mind maps and generated Q&A from one link
  • Free tier allows 5 summaries a day with no card
  • Paid tiers switch generation to Claude and lift the video-length cap to 60 or 120 minutes
  • Separate free YouTube transcript generator on the same site

Cons

  • No public API, acknowledged in their own FAQ
  • The 30-minute free ceiling excludes exactly the long videos worth summarising
  • Exceeding your quota downgrades you to free rather than allowing overage

Which one fits

Choose Sider if you need

  • Reading and summarizing long articles or PDFs without leaving the page
  • Comparing answers from several models in one panel
  • People who want one subscription instead of several separate chatbot logins

Choose Summarize.ing if you need

  • Skimming long talks, lectures and interviews before deciding to watch
  • Students who want key concepts and Q&A rather than a plain recap
  • Light users who fit inside five summaries a day for free
