SaneBox learns which senders you actually open and reply to, then files everything else into folders such as SaneLater and SaneNews before you look at the inbox. It connects over IMAP, Exchange or ActiveSync, so sorting happens at the mail server and carries into every client on every device without a plugin. Supporting features include a permanent blackhole folder, snooze, follow-up reminders and a digest of what was filtered out.

Pros & cons of SaneBox
The most durable answer to inbox overload precisely because it is client-agnostic: it changes your mail server, not your mail app, so it works the same in Outlook, Apple Mail and Gmail. Skip it if you live entirely in Gmail and will spend an afternoon building filters yourself.
