What our research says

Gmelius Meli AI

Meli is Gmelius's AI assistant for Gmail — it drafts replies in the user's tone, sorts incoming mail, and books meetings, running on Google's Gemini models. Gmelius itself is an established, Geneva-based platform with over 10,000 teams using its shared-inbox tools, so Meli isn't a bolt-on from an unproven vendor. The $19/user/month entry price is specifically for the AI assistant tier — team collaboration features cost more on the Growth and Pro plans above it.

Pros

  • Backed by an established company (10,000+ teams) rather than an early-stage vendor
  • States user data isn't used to train the underlying AI models
  • Drafts, sorting, and meeting scheduling are handled in one assistant rather than three tools

Cons

  • Entry AI tier is priced per user, so cost scales linearly with team size
  • Gmail-only — no Outlook or other email provider support mentioned

SaneBox

The most durable answer to inbox overload precisely because it is client-agnostic: it changes your mail server, not your mail app, so it works the same in Outlook, Apple Mail and Gmail. Skip it if you live entirely in Gmail and will spend an afternoon building filters yourself.

Pros

  • Operates at the IMAP and Exchange layer, so there is no client lock-in or extension to install
  • 14-day trial with no card required
  • Blackhole and digest behaviour is genuinely hard to reproduce with manual filters
  • Biyearly billing cuts the effective Snack rate to about $4.54 a month

Cons

  • Snack tier caps you at one account and only two features, so most users land on Lunch or higher
  • Paid utility with no free tier at all
  • No public developer API and api.sanebox.com does not respond
  • Sorting only continues while the service retains mailbox access

Which one fits

Choose Gmelius Meli AI if you need

  • Individuals or small teams who want AI drafting and sorting inside Gmail itself
  • Teams already running shared addresses like support@ who want AI folded into that workflow

Choose SaneBox if you need

  • People juggling several mailboxes across different providers
  • Outlook, Fastmail and iCloud users that Gmail-only AI tools ignore
  • Anyone who wants triage to persist across phone, laptop and web with nothing installed
