Use tool ↗About Powabase
Powabase packages the parts an AI application usually needs behind one backend: Postgres with row-level security, auth, object storage and realtime, plus pgvector search and a document pipeline that ingests PDFs, images, office files and URLs with OCR built in. On top sits a ReAct agent runtime that can call several models, knowledge bases and tools with streaming output, and a drag-and-drop workflow canvas with a natural-language copilot. It hooks into nine coding agents including Claude Code, Codex and Replit. You can run the managed cloud or self-host the Apache-2.0 stack with Docker Compose. The vendor is Agentic Enterprise Solutions, Inc.

Pros & cons of Powabase
A Supabase-shaped backend with the retrieval and agent layers already wired in, so document ingestion, vector search and tool-calling agents come from the same project as your database and auth. Worth a look if you keep rebuilding that stack; the trade-off is that plan fees sit on top of usage credits, so the real bill depends on call volume rather than the sticker price.
Pros
- Postgres, auth, storage, realtime, pgvector and an OCR document pipeline ship together
- ReAct agent runtime supports multiple models, knowledge bases and tools with streaming
- Visual workflow canvas with a natural-language copilot for assembling steps
- Self-hostable under Apache-2.0 via Docker Compose, so the managed cloud is not a lock-in
Cons
- Every paid plan bills usage credits on top of the monthly fee, so cost tracks call volume
- Marketing claims about token savings and build cost carry no published methodology
- Documentation and community are young compared with the database platforms it competes with
Best for
- Teams rebuilding the same Postgres plus RAG plus agent stack on every project
- Developers who want document OCR and pgvector search without stitching services
- Anyone who needs the option to self-host the whole thing later
Not for
- Projects that only need a plain database with no AI layer
- Buyers who want a fixed monthly bill with no metered component
Watch out: The plan fee buys an equal amount of credits, not unlimited usage — model down to your expected calls per month before comparing it with a flat-rate backend.
