Two fact sheets from our own research, side by side — pricing, platforms, API access and status re-checked by us rather than quoted from the vendors. v0 publishes a starting price ($30); Polymet does not. Both have a free tier. Only v0 ships a public API.

What our research says

Polymet

Stronger than a generic prompt-to-UI toy because it starts from your design system and can round-trip through Figma, GitHub and Storybook. The blocker for evaluation is that no price exists anywhere in public, so budgeting means emailing sales before you know if it works for you.

Pros

  • Imports your own design system rather than imposing a generic one
  • Two-way Figma import and export
  • Hooks into GitHub, private npm packages and Storybook
  • Visual editor and code editor over the same artefact
  • Real-time team review and shareable live demos

Cons

  • No pricing published at all, on the site or in the docs
  • Credits expire at the end of each subscription term
  • Free-plan output carries a Built with Polymet badge on anything public
  • No API and no offline option

v0

The strongest choice when the target stack is Next.js on Vercel, since generation, preview and deployment live in one loop and the Platform API lets you embed the whole builder. Costs are credit-metered per token, so long agentic sessions eat the included allowance fast, and output is opinionated toward Vercel's stack.

Pros

  • Generates deployable full-stack code, not static mockups
  • Free tier plus daily login credits support light ongoing use
  • Documented Platform API and SDK for programmatic generation
  • Design Mode and screenshot-to-UI shortcuts help non-coders

Cons

  • Credit consumption is hard to predict on bigger builds
  • Training opt-out is default only on Business and Enterprise tiers
  • Output leans on Vercel deployment and ecosystem conventions

Which one fits

Choose Polymet if you need

  • Product teams with an established design system and component library
  • Designers who want editable code, not a screenshot to hand off
  • Teams already living in Figma, GitHub and Storybook

Choose v0 if you need

  • Founders and PMs producing working MVPs and internal tools from prompts
  • Frontend engineers scaffolding shadcn/Tailwind components
  • Developers embedding text-to-app generation via the Platform API
