Archie vs v0

Two fact sheets from our own research, side by side — pricing, platforms, API access and status re-checked by us rather than quoted from the vendors. Archie starts at $24, v0 at $30. Both have a free tier. Only v0 ships a public API.

What our research says

Archie

Archie's differentiator is splitting the work between an architecture agent and a design agent, and letting you switch between prompting, a visual canvas and your own IDE on the same project. That suits people who start conversationally and finish in code. It only reached general availability in August 2026, though, and the pricing page is visibly broken - the Pro tier shows $0 a month.

Pros

  • Distinct architecture and design agents rather than one generalist generator
  • Three ways to drive the same project: prompt, visual editor, or IDE
  • Free Starter tier with 50 credits a month and no card required
  • Pooled team credits instead of per-seat allowances that expire unused
  • Top-up packs get cheaper per credit at volume, down to about $0.088

Cons

  • The Pro tier's price renders as $0/mo on the live pricing page, so the real mid-tier cost is unknown
  • Team billing requires a minimum of five seats, which prices out individuals
  • General availability only in August 2026 - almost no track record
  • Credits are the unit of work and the page does not say what one credit buys

v0

The strongest choice when the target stack is Next.js on Vercel, since generation, preview and deployment live in one loop and the Platform API lets you embed the whole builder. Costs are credit-metered per token, so long agentic sessions eat the included allowance fast, and output is opinionated toward Vercel's stack.

Pros

  • Generates deployable full-stack code, not static mockups
  • Free tier plus daily login credits support light ongoing use
  • Documented Platform API and SDK for programmatic generation
  • Design Mode and screenshot-to-UI shortcuts help non-coders

Cons

  • Credit consumption is hard to predict on bigger builds
  • Training opt-out is default only on Business and Enterprise tiers
  • Output leans on Vercel deployment and ecosystem conventions

Which one fits

Choose Archie if you need

  • Developers who want to start in a prompt and finish in their IDE
  • Small product teams that need architecture and UI generated together
  • Teams of five or more, which is where Team pricing starts

Choose v0 if you need

  • Founders and PMs producing working MVPs and internal tools from prompts
  • Frontend engineers scaffolding shadcn/Tailwind components
  • Developers embedding text-to-app generation via the Platform API
