Penelope.ai reads a submitted manuscript and reports on more than 30 technical requirements — ethics and consent statements, data availability, reference completeness, figure and table mentions, word counts, trial registration IDs — using language models trained on academic articles rather than a human checklist. Journals configure which checks run, which are blocking and what feedback editors or authors see. It plugs into manuscript-handling systems and exposes documented API endpoints.
Sold to journals per submission at roughly £0.80–£1.50 depending on annual volume; no monthly seat price, and journals can choose to make author checks free.
