Browser mind mapping with live collaboration, presentation mode and an AI map generator
MindMeister is a mind-mapping tool that has been running since 2007 and claims more than forty million users. Maps are built in the browser with unlimited collaborators editing at once, can be played back as a presentation, and export to PDF, Word or PowerPoint. AI generation drafts a map from a topic and is available even on the free plan, which is capped at three maps. It pairs with MeisterTask so branches can become tasks, and mobile apps cover phones and tablets. The publisher is MeisterLabs GmbH of Vaterstetten, Germany, registered at Amtsgericht Munich under HRB 161267; hosting is in Germany with ISO 27001 certification and GDPR compliance.
Free plan allows 3 maps but keeps collaboration, templates, presentation mode and AI generation. Paid tiers were quoted in euros per user per month at the time of checking: Personal EUR 6, Pro EUR 10, Business EUR 15, with up to 16% off annual billing. No USD figure was served, so none is recorded.
Use tool ↗An old, stable mind-mapping tool with a free tier that keeps the features most vendors strip out: real-time collaboration, templates, presentation mode and AI generation all work without paying. The cap is on map count, three, which is a demo rather than a usable allowance. A German legal entity, EU hosting and ISO 27001 make it an easy sell to a compliance team.
Watch out: Pricing is quoted in euros per user per month and the three-map free cap means most real use starts on a paid seat.
