Use tool ↗About Mind Map Wizard
Mind Map Wizard takes a topic, a pasted URL or an uploaded PDF and lays it out as a branching mind map you can edit node by node, restyle and export. It is run by a single maker, Linus Scharli, who also publishes a pay-per-request API that returns each map as SVG plus markdown and is priced per call rather than per seat. The free tier caps you at three generated maps with watermarked exports; the paid tier lifts that to hundreds of maps a month and adds PDF import and an editing assistant. Team collaboration and SSO sit behind a quote-only enterprise tier.

Pros & cons of Mind Map Wizard
A cheap, single-purpose map generator that gets you a usable skeleton out of a PDF or URL in one step, and the per-call API is unusually plain pricing for this niche. Being a one-person project, support and roadmap rest on one maker, and the site's own pricing copy contradicts itself.
Pros
- Accepts topic text, a URL or a PDF as input
- Documented pay-per-request API returning SVG and markdown
- Free tier works without payment details
- Watermark-free exports on the paid tier
Cons
- Run by one maker, so support depends on one person
- Free tier is only three maps
- Pricing page mixes monthly and annual figures confusingly
Best for
- Turning a long PDF into a study outline
- Sketching a topic structure before writing
- Developers who want map generation behind an API
Not for
- Teams needing real-time co-editing and permissions
- Anyone who needs a vendor support contract
Watch out: The Pro price is displayed with two different billing figures at once; check what checkout actually charges before subscribing.
