What our research says

Luma Agents

Luma has folded Dream Machine into Luma Agents, a canvas where one agent dispatches work to its own Ray and Uni models and to rivals' models, so you are buying a workflow more than a model. That suits teams producing campaign variations across formats, less so someone who just wants the best text-to-video clip, where credits per second add up fast at 1080p. The API is the cleaner buy for developers: per-generation prices, no subscription.

Pros

  • Own video models (Ray3.2, Ray3.14) and image model (Uni-1) plus third-party models in one workspace
  • Consistency tools for characters and brand assets across variations
  • API with published per-generation prices from $0.15 for a 540p five-second clip and no commitment on the Build plan
  • Audio generation, lip sync, transcription and captions built into the same canvas

Cons

  • No free plan listed on the pricing page, and the cheapest plan is $30 a month
  • Credits expire at the end of each month, and 1080p video costs 80 credits a second
  • The Dream Machine name and the iOS app have disappeared from the site, so older guides no longer match
  • The API's provisioned-throughput minimum is stated inconsistently (4 versus 8 units)

S2V

S2V covers both text-to-video and image-to-video with straightforward credit pricing and a named menu of current models, but there is no visible information about who runs it, which is worth weighing against tools from established video-AI companies. It is a reseller of Sora, Veo and Wan capacity under an unaffiliated brand, so what you can generate depends on upstream providers it does not control.

Pros

  • Supports both text-to-video and image-to-video in one platform
  • Names the models it fronts, including Sora 2 Pro storyboard and Veo 3.1 with audio
  • Published credit pricing across three tiers, monthly or yearly
  • Unlimited-generation plan for heavy users of the basic and enhanced models

Cons

  • No company name, location, or founding information disclosed anywhere on the site
  • No free tier to test output quality before paying
  • The $25 headline is a yearly rate paid up front; month-to-month costs $29.99 for a twelfth of the credits
  • Premium models such as Seedance 2.0 and 4K Veo sit outside the Unlimited plan

Which one fits

Choose Luma Agents if you need

  • Creative teams producing many on-brand variations of video, image and audio from one brief
  • Agencies that want Ray, Veo, Kling and Seedance behind a single canvas and one bill
  • Developers who want Ray3.2 video and Uni-1.1 images through a pay-per-generation API

Choose S2V if you need

  • Turning a single reference photo into a short animated video clip
  • Users who want one subscription across Sora 2, Veo 3.1 and Wan 2.5 instead of several
  • Quick text-to-video generation without needing enterprise features
