What our research says

Lore

Lore's pitch is narrower and more honest than most 'company brain' tools: start from the documents you already have, get answers with receipts, and put agents on the recurring jobs. Pricing is unusually legible for the category — real numbers, real limits, a no-card trial. It is also expensive per head, and the operator is a consultancy rather than a software company with a support org behind it.

Pros

  • Publishes hard limits per plan: pages, active agents, agent runs and audit retention
  • External guests and client logins are free rather than billed as seats
  • Nine quick-start kits give the upload step a concrete target instead of a blank library
  • Pro's 14-day trial needs no card; Enterprise offers SSO, a HIPAA BAA and a 99.9% SLA

Cons

  • No free tier at all — the cheapest real usage is $99 per seat per month
  • Business auto-charges on day 15 of its trial and does require a card
  • Built and run by a consulting firm, so support depth and roadmap are tied to their client work

Notion AI

If your team already lives in Notion, this replaces separate meeting-notes and enterprise-search subscriptions with one bundled layer that can actually edit your pages and databases. The catch is the toll: full AI requires the Business tier for every member, and automated custom agents burn metered credits on top.

Pros

  • Agent operates on real workspace objects, not just chat replies
  • Meeting notes and connector-based search are included rather than sold separately
  • Zero data retention with LLM providers is available at the Enterprise tier
  • Mature platform with a documented public API and broad app coverage

Cons

  • Per-member Business pricing makes AI expensive for large casual teams
  • Custom agents consume paid credits once the promotional window lapsed
  • Output quality depends heavily on how well-structured your workspace is
