Use tool ↗About Knowee
Knowee, presented on its site as Knowee Writer, helps students write essays by generating outlines and sub-points, suggesting text when a draft stalls, and pulling citations from Google Scholar into reference lists in five major formats. Uploaded PDFs can be used as sources for cited arguments, and an Ask AI editor reworks drafts for flow and depth. Earlier study features such as homework help, a math solver, scholar search and chat with PDFs are still linked from the site. The product was previously branded StudyGPT and is operated by xBuddy.ai Limited, with a website and a Chrome extension; writing starts free and paid plans are priced after sign-in.

Pros & cons of Knowee
Knowee's specific focus on outlines and citation checking, rather than just generating a finished essay outright, is a more defensible pitch for a tool marketed at students worried about academic integrity. The free plan is real, but this is still fundamentally an essay-assistance tool, and how an individual instructor or institution treats its use is outside the product's control.
Pros
- Distinct focus on outlines and citation verification rather than just full essay generation
- Available both as a website and a Chrome extension
- Writing can start for free before any paid plan
Cons
- Company discloses an operating entity name but no confirmed headquarters country
- Plan prices are hidden until you sign in, so the cost cannot be compared up front
- Use of any AI essay tool carries academic integrity risk that depends entirely on institutional policy, not the product
Best for
- Students who want help structuring an essay and verifying citations rather than a finished essay written for them
- Users who already want a Chrome extension for in-browser writing help
Not for
- Students at institutions that prohibit AI writing assistance of any kind
- Anyone wanting a single tool for professional or business writing rather than academic work
Watch out: Paid plan prices appear only after sign-in, and the advertised $0.66 three-day trial rolls into a monthly charge unless cancelled — check the figure at checkout.
