What our research says

Kittl

The right pick if you sell print-on-demand or physical goods and need a real vector editor bolted to image generation. If you mostly need social posts and docs, Canva does more for less and Kittl's token meter will annoy you.

Pros

  • Genuine vector editing and text-on-path effects, not a template filler
  • Multiple frontier image models are selectable inside one plan
  • Commercial licence to 500,000 copies is included from the Pro tier, which suits POD sellers
  • Exports SVG and PDF plus 300 DPI raster from $19/mo

Cons

  • No API, so it cannot sit in an automated pipeline
  • AI tokens reset monthly with no rollover, and top-ups are only sold on higher tiers
  • Free tier is personal-use only and gives a single 200-token grant, not a monthly one
  • Web only — no desktop or mobile app

SVGMaker.io

SVGMaker is the rare prompt-to-vector tool that also gives you the editor and the conversion utilities around it, so a generated shape can be cleaned up rather than regenerated. The export list — DXF, EPS, JSX — tells you who it is for: craft-cutter and print sellers, and developers dropping icons into a component. The credit model is the thing to read carefully before buying.

Pros

  • Output is genuinely editable vector paths, and there is a real editor to work them in
  • Photo-to-vector, background removal and text removal work on SVGs you upload, not only on generated ones
  • Exports to DXF, EPS, AI and PDF for cutting and print, plus JSX/HTML/CSS for code
  • REST API and an MCP server that plugs into Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code

Cons

  • Prices are not visible without loading the app, so packs cannot be compared before signing up
  • Purchased credits expire after a year and all purchases are non-refundable
  • Free-plan output is licensed for personal use only; commercial rights start once you buy credits
  • Daily free credits reset at midnight, so an unused allowance is simply lost

Which one fits

Choose Kittl if you need

  • Print-on-demand sellers making t-shirt and poster art
  • Solo brand designers who need editable SVG out, not just PNG
  • Label, packaging and merch mockup work
  • Designers who want several image models behind one editor without separate subscriptions

Choose SVGMaker.io if you need

  • Etsy, Cricut and print-on-demand sellers who need cuttable vector files
  • Developers who want an icon as JSX or inline SVG rather than a PNG
  • Cleaning up or recolouring an SVG you already have
