What our research says

iMean AI Trip Planner

iMean is a straightforward chat-first alternative to manually researching a trip across many browser tabs: describe the trip and it drafts flights, hotels, and a day plan together. The free daily allowance is enough to plan an occasional trip without paying, and the Unlimited Traveler upgrade removes the cap, though its price is shown only at checkout. It is still a recommendation engine, not a booking agent, so reservations happen elsewhere.

Pros

  • Generates flights, hotels, and a day-by-day plan from one description
  • Free tier is usable daily without a credit card
  • Backed by a funded company with a 2023 seed round
  • Responsive web app works on both desktop and mobile browsers

Cons

  • No native mobile app, only a responsive website
  • It recommends and links out rather than booking travel directly

Layla

Layla drafts a full trip in one conversation and keeps human travel experts behind it for the bookings a generated itinerary cannot handle. Since Expedia Group bought it in July 2026 it is best treated as a planning front end to a large booking marketplace: good for a first draft, but verify fares and compare prices elsewhere before paying.

Pros

  • Free tier covers core itinerary planning
  • One conversation covers flights, stays, activities, dining and transport
  • Human travel experts available for complex bookings
  • Owned by Expedia Group since July 2026, with access to its hotel and flight supply

Cons

  • No public API
  • Fares and availability come from partners and need checking
  • Premium pricing could not be read from the vendor's site, which blocks automated visits
