Use tool ↗About GPTExcel
GPTExcel started as a formula generator and is now a chat workspace for spreadsheets. It writes and explains formulas for Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice Calc and Airtable, generates VBA, Apps Script, Python, SQL and regular expressions, and lets you upload an Excel or CSV file, or a photo of a table, to ask questions, clean data or build charts. Separate agents produce native Excel pivot tables with slicers and turn a sheet into a slide deck you download as PowerPoint or PDF. It runs in the browser rather than as an add-in, so results come back as a file to download or a formula to paste. The operator is gptexcel, LLC in Delaware.

Pros & cons of GPTExcel
Cheap and focused: if you write awkward nested formulas a few times a week, or need a pivot table or a quick deck from a CSV, it earns its nine dollars. If you already pay for a frontier chat model that reads spreadsheets, you are paying twice for much the same capability.
Pros
- Low paid entry at $9 a month, less on annual billing
- Explain-a-formula mode is as useful as generation and is often the reason people return
- Covers Excel, Sheets, LibreOffice and Airtable syntax rather than assuming Excel
- Builds native pivot tables and downloadable slide decks from an uploaded file
Cons
- Copy-paste or download workflow: nothing runs where your data lives
- Credits refresh weekly on paid plans and do not roll over, so a quiet week is lost allowance
- Expert-model messages cost 10 credits each and are only on Pro Plus
Best for
- Analysts who need INDEX/MATCH, LAMBDA or array formulas explained rather than just produced
- Turning a described transformation into VBA or Apps Script without learning either
- Occasional SQL and regex writing by people who are not developers
Not for
- Anyone wanting AI inside the spreadsheet; no Excel add-in or Sheets add-on found
- Programmatic use, since no public API was found
Watch out: Paid credits reset weekly rather than monthly, and heavy bursts are throttled over 5-hour windows, so a long debugging session can stall mid-week.
