What our research says

Glarity

Solid if you read across languages all day and want summaries where the content already sits, but less compelling now that browsers and several free extensions do the same job. Cross-language reading is where it still earns its keep.

Pros

  • One extension covers YouTube, search, Twitter, Gmail and plain pages
  • Handles far longer inputs than the free tier of a general chatbot
  • Bring-your-own-key option avoids paying a second subscription
  • Available beyond Chrome, including Edge, Safari, Firefox and Opera

Cons

  • The pricing table only renders in JavaScript, so plans are hard to compare before signing up
  • Token metering makes cost unpredictable across long videos
  • No API, so it cannot be wired into a workflow
  • Site copy and footer still carry a 2024 date, which reads stale against the product

HARPA AI

The strongest option if you want one extension that both discusses a page and acts on it, and it earns its price only if you actually build repeatable web workflows. For plain summaries and a chat sidebar, cheaper single-purpose extensions do the same job.

Pros

  • Commands run against the live DOM, so they work on pages behind a login
  • Bring-your-own-key and web-session modes keep running costs down
  • Registered EU entity with GDPR and ISO 27001 claims, unusual for an extension
  • Lifetime licence exists for people who refuse subscriptions

Cons

  • The command builder has a genuine learning curve
  • Token metering makes monthly spend hard to forecast
  • No developer API of its own, despite the automation positioning
  • Automations break when target sites change their markup

Which one fits

Choose Glarity if you need

  • Reading long-form content in a second language
  • Skimming hour-long talks on YouTube for the relevant section
  • Triaging PDFs without opening a separate chat tab
  • Users who already hold an OpenAI key and want to spend it here

Choose HARPA AI if you need

  • Sales and research work that repeats the same extract-then-summarise loop across many pages
  • People who prefer bringing their own model API keys over another per-seat AI subscription
  • Watching pages for price or stock changes and firing alerts
