HARPA AI vs Voila

Two fact sheets from our own research, side by side — pricing, platforms, API access and status re-checked by us rather than quoted from the vendors. Voila publishes a starting price ($10); HARPA AI does not. Both have a free tier.

What our research says

HARPA AI

The strongest option if you want one extension that both discusses a page and acts on it, and it earns its price only if you actually build repeatable web workflows. For plain summaries and a chat sidebar, cheaper single-purpose extensions do the same job.

Pros

  • Commands run against the live DOM, so they work on pages behind a login
  • Bring-your-own-key and web-session modes keep running costs down
  • Registered EU entity with GDPR and ISO 27001 claims, unusual for an extension
  • Lifetime licence exists for people who refuse subscriptions

Cons

  • The command builder has a genuine learning curve
  • Token metering makes monthly spend hard to forecast
  • No developer API of its own, despite the automation positioning
  • Automations break when target sites change their markup

Voila

Voila's argument is availability rather than model quality: the same assistant answers on a hotkey in five browsers, two desktops and two phones, so you stop copying text into a chat tab. Pricing by request instead of by feature is honest and easy to reason about. What it does not offer is any way to automate — there is no API, no workflow builder, and the vendor stays anonymous about who runs it.

Pros

  • Extension covers Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave and Safari, plus Windows, macOS, iOS and Android apps
  • Works on the current page or selection via hotkey rather than requiring copy-paste into a chat
  • Handles pages, documents, images and YouTube transcripts as inputs, not just typed text
  • Request-count pricing gives every tier the same feature set, so you only pay for volume
  • Free tier is 250 requests with no card

Cons

  • Free tier is a one-off allowance, not a recurring monthly quota, so it runs out permanently
  • No API and no automation surface — everything is manual and interactive
  • The site names no company, address or jurisdiction; ownership had to be inferred from startup directories

Which one fits

Choose HARPA AI if you need

  • Sales and research work that repeats the same extract-then-summarise loop across many pages
  • People who prefer bringing their own model API keys over another per-seat AI subscription
  • Watching pages for price or stock changes and firing alerts

Choose Voila if you need

  • Rewriting and replying inside email, docs and web forms without switching tabs
  • Summarising a page, PDF or YouTube transcript while you are already looking at it
  • People who want one assistant across browser, desktop and phone on one subscription
