FLUX is the model family from Black Forest Labs, the Freiburg lab founded by Stable Diffusion's authors. The current line runs from FLUX.2 [klein] 4B and 9B, small models priced from about a cent and a half an image, through FLUX.2 [pro], [flex] and [max] billed per output megapixel, to FLUX 3 Image and FLUX 3 Video with optional native audio and a 7B open-weights world-action model for robotics. Tools cover editing, inpainting, outpainting, erasing, virtual try-on and video upscaling. The hosted API is pay as you go with no subscription, a browser playground lets you try prompts without code, and open weights can be run on your own hardware under non-commercial terms or a paid Builder, Platform or Professional licence with monthly image caps. The company is BFL GmbH, registered in Munich with its lab in Freiburg, Germany.

Pros & cons of FLUX
FLUX is the practical choice when you want one vendor that covers both the hosted API and weights you can run yourself: the [klein] models are cheap enough for bulk generation, [pro] and [max] handle editing and high-resolution work, and the same family now extends to video. Per-megapixel billing is transparent once you remember that resolution rounds up, so a 1080p frame is charged as three megapixels. The open-weight licences are the part to read carefully: non-commercial use is free, but commercial self-hosting is a paid licence with monthly image caps, and the price for it is only visible after you sign in.
