What our research says

Figmap

Figmap's idea of turning a question into a clickable concept map is useful for getting oriented in a new topic fast, closer to a guided overview than a blank-canvas mind-mapping tool. Because the live site returned almost no readable text during this review, confidence in specifics like current pricing is lower than usual.

Pros

  • Generates a structured map from a single topic or question
  • Wiki Graph feature links related concepts beyond the initial query
  • Free tier available before paying anything
  • Low advertised entry price for the paid tier

Cons

  • Vendor site is largely unreadable without a browser, limiting independent verification
  • No company name, location, or team information found anywhere

MindMeister

An old, stable mind-mapping tool with a free tier that keeps the features most vendors strip out: real-time collaboration, templates, presentation mode and AI generation all work without paying. The cap is on map count, three, which is a demo rather than a usable allowance. A German legal entity, EU hosting and ISO 27001 make it an easy sell to a compliance team.

Pros

  • Free plan keeps collaboration, presentation mode and AI generation instead of stripping them
  • Real-time editing with unlimited collaborators on every tier
  • Exports to PDF, Word and PowerPoint for people who do not use the tool
  • Running since 2007, with EU hosting, ISO 27001 certification and a published German legal entity

Cons

  • Free plan caps you at three maps, which is a trial rather than a tier
  • Per-user pricing adds up across a team compared with general whiteboard tools
  • Attachments are limited to two per map below the Pro tier
  • No documented public API
