Free Basic plan with node, map and upload limits; paid plans such as Plus raise those limits and are bought through a Paddle checkout inside the app. The web app renders client-side and no price is shown to a signed-out visitor, so no entry price is recorded.
Use tool ↗About Emberly
Emberly replaces the folder tree with a mind map: every note, uploaded file and saved bookmark becomes a node you can drag, nest and link both ways. It adds real-time co-editing, search across nodes, and an AI helper that drafts a starter map, summarises a note or turns one into a practice quiz. The team behind it is based in Stavanger, Norway, and has been shipping since around 2020. It is browser-only, with no desktop or mobile client, and sold freemium: a free tier plus a paid upgrade whose price the site renders behind a login.

Pros & cons of Emberly
Worth it if you think in maps rather than lists: the node graph plus bi-directional links makes an unfamiliar topic easier to re-enter than a stack of documents. The catch is scope. This is a small-team web app with no offline client, no mobile app and no public API, so it is a place to think rather than a system of record.
Pros
- Notes, files and bookmarks live in one map instead of three apps
- Bi-directional links between nodes, so context survives when you return months later
- Real-time collaborative editing on shared maps
- AI can generate practice quizzes from your own notes
Cons
- Web-only: no desktop, mobile or offline client
- Pricing is not readable by an unauthenticated visitor
- Small vendor with no public API or export ecosystem
Best for
- students building revision maps
- visual thinkers organising research
- people who collect bookmarks and later need to find them
Not for
- teams needing offline or mobile access
- anyone who wants a portable plain-text note format
Watch out: Everything is stored as nodes inside their web app, so check the export path before moving a large library in.
