Hobby is free with a one-time $100 usage credit, 1-hour sessions and 20 concurrent sandboxes. Pro is $150 a month plus per-second usage charges for CPU and memory, with 24-hour sessions and 100 concurrent sandboxes; extra concurrency add-ons cost $500 or $1,000 a month. Enterprise is custom with a $3,000 monthly minimum.
Use tool βAbout E2B
E2B boots an isolated microVM for each agent session, where the agent can run shell commands and code, use a filesystem, open a browser or drive a full desktop. Developers control it from Python and JavaScript SDKs: create a sandbox, run code, pause, snapshot, fork or resume it, and set network egress rules and scoped secrets. A Code Interpreter package returns charts and tables from Python or JavaScript, and a desktop package supports computer-use agents. The runtime is open source under Apache-2.0, and sandboxes run on E2B's managed cloud or inside a customer's AWS, GCP or Azure account.

Pros & cons of E2B
E2B is infrastructure for developers who ship agents that need to execute code or use a computer safely, and it gives a clear SDK for that single job. The open-source runtime and bring-your-own-cloud option help teams with data-residency rules. It is not a coding assistant or an agent in itself, and costs scale with sandbox runtime rather than a flat fee.
Pros
- Apache-2.0 runtime with Python and JavaScript SDKs, plus code-interpreter and desktop packages
- Pause, snapshot and fork lifecycle, and per-second billing while a sandbox runs
- Egress policies and a secrets vault keep keys out of the sandbox
- Managed cloud in US, EU and APAC or bring-your-own-cloud on AWS, GCP and Azure; SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA are claimed
Cons
- Pro starts at $150 a month before any usage, which is steep for a hobby project
- Free sessions are capped at one hour
- Usage pricing needs a calculator to forecast, since CPU and memory are metered separately
Best for
- Teams building coding, data-analysis or computer-use agents that must run untrusted code
- AI labs that need thousands of short-lived environments for evaluations or reinforcement learning
- Enterprises that want agent sandboxes inside their own cloud account
Not for
- People who want a ready-made agent or chat app rather than a runtime to build on
- Workloads that need GPUs inside the sandbox, which the pricing page does not list
Watch out: Hobby credit is a one-time $100, not monthly. Pro's $150 is a base fee on top of per-second compute, and going beyond 100 concurrent sandboxes adds $500 or more a month.
