DocComment
DocComment stays narrowly focused on writing comments and explanations for existing code rather than trying to be a full AI coding assistant, which keeps its scope predictable. The IDE plugins that would make it fit into a normal workflow are still only planned, so today it's a web-based, paste-your-code tool.
Pros
- Covers class, function, and inline comment granularity separately
- Non-intrusive sidecar explanations that don't alter the original code
- Git integration on the Silver plan for tracking documentation over time
Cons
- VS Code and Cursor plugins are only planned, not shipped
- Line-count limits mean heavy users will need the paid tiers quickly
- No company background or founding info published on the site
