ColorArt

A narrow tool that does one job properly: clean line art suitable for printing and coloring, from prompts or photos. Character consistency and batch generation are what separate it from a general image model, and the KDP builder is aimed at people selling coloring books, but selling the output is only licensed from the Artist tier or a yearly Hobby plan up. Credits, not pages, are what you actually buy.

Pros

Takes text, photos or sketches as input and traces usable outlines from all three
Keeps a character recognisable across a set of pages, which general image models struggle with
Batch generation and a KDP book builder for people publishing at volume
Watermark-free downloads on every paid tier including the cheapest

Cons

Priced in credits, so the page counts quoted per tier assume you never retry a generation
Commercial use, 4K and the KDP builder are held back from the cheaper monthly tiers
No public API and no offline or desktop option
The site names founders but no legal entity or country, so there is no accountable vendor on record

Midjourney

Midjourney still produces the most immediately attractive images of any generator, and it is still the least programmable. Buy it if you are art-directing by eye; look elsewhere if a machine has to call it.

Default aesthetic quality is still the reason people pay for it
Style and character references keep a look consistent across a set
Image-to-video arrived natively rather than through a bolted-on partner

Cons

No official public API, and unofficial wrappers breach the terms of service
GPU-hour metering makes cost per image hard to predict, and video burns roughly 26x a still
Images are public by default until you reach the $60 Pro tier
No free trial since 2023, so evaluation costs $10
