Reads a codebase and draws its architecture, with diagrams for pull requests and export to Mermaid or draw.io.
CodeViz analyses a repository and generates architecture diagrams from it, so a pull request or a ticket can be reviewed as a picture rather than a diff. It runs primarily as a VS Code extension, answers natural-language questions about the codebase, and exports to Mermaid, draw.io, or PNG so diagrams can live in existing docs. The free tier allows five diagrams a month on one repository; Pro is $19 a month for unlimited diagrams, faster processing, PR visualisation, and Jira integration; Teams is $50 per seat a month adding unlimited repositories, shared workspaces, real-time collaboration, version history, and embeds for Notion and Confluence. Enterprise adds SSO, RBAC, on-premise deployment, and API access. The company is EdisonLabs, Inc. of San Francisco, backed by Y Combinator.
Free tier gives 5 diagrams/month on 1 repository. Pro $19/month unlimited diagrams. Teams $50 per seat per month adds unlimited repos and collaboration. API access and on-premise sit on the custom Enterprise tier only.
Use tool βDiagram tools usually rot because nobody updates them; CodeViz regenerates from the code itself, and exporting to Mermaid and draw.io means the output is not trapped in the vendor's viewer. The free tier is real enough to evaluate on a single repo. The gap between $19 Pro and $50 per seat Teams is steep, and multi-repository support only appears at that higher tier.
Watch out: Cross-repository architecture is an Enterprise feature, so a microservice estate will not be fully visualised on the self-serve plans.
