What our research says

Clipdrop

Still one of the fastest ways to run a single fix on one image without opening an editor or creating a project. The daily caps and the ownership churn are the reasons not to build a workflow on it - Photoroom and Pixelcut are more actively pushed for batch and commerce work.

Pros

  • Each tool is a separate single-purpose page - no project setup, no learning curve
  • Free tier is usable daily rather than a one-time trial
  • Terms permit commercial use of generated images
  • Same capabilities exposed through an API and a Photoshop plugin

Cons

  • Free output is resolution-limited and queued behind Pro users
  • Three owners in four years - Init ML, then Stability AI, then Jasper
  • Pro pricing is not shown until you are in the flow
  • Text-to-image quality has fallen behind dedicated image models

Slazzer

A cheaper remove.bg with far more surface area — desktop apps, Photoshop, an API and a stack of adjacent edits sharing one credit balance. Choose it when volume and per-image cost decide the call, not when you need the best possible edge on hair and fur.

Pros

  • unlimited free low-resolution previews before you spend a credit
  • credits roll over up to six times the monthly allowance
  • native apps for Windows, macOS and Linux plus a Photoshop extension
  • API documented for 500 images per minute with higher limits on request

Cons

  • previews cap at 0.25 megapixels, so you judge quality at a fraction of final size
  • different features consume different credit fractions, making spend hard to predict
  • pay-as-you-go packs cost several times the subscription rate per image
  • prices display in local currency, which complicates comparison against rivals

Which one fits

Choose Clipdrop if you need

  • One-off cleanups: kill a background, erase a passer-by, extend a crop
  • Designers who want the same models inside Photoshop via the plugin
  • Developers embedding background removal or upscaling through an API

Choose Slazzer if you need

  • ecommerce catalogues pushing thousands of product shots through one pipeline
  • developers who want cutout, upscale and shadow behind a single API
  • retouchers who would rather stay inside Photoshop than upload to a website
