Browser Use

The open-source library made the category legible, and the hosted service is the practical way to run it at scale without babysitting Chromium instances. CDP compatibility means existing Playwright or Puppeteer code points at it with a config change. The economics are metered all the way down, so a plan price tells you very little about your real bill.

MangoTart trades the convenience of a cloud agent platform for a physical box you own outright, which appeals to people who want browsing agents running on hardware they control rather than a vendor's servers. The catch is that it still needs an external AI model subscription to actually think, and $599 up front is a real commitment for what is essentially a small home server.

Pros

  • Ships with agent OS, browser, and dashboard preinstalled so there is no separate software stack to assemble
  • One-time hardware cost instead of a recurring per-agent subscription
  • Runs scheduled tasks like monitoring and daily briefings locally rather than through a third-party cloud runtime

Cons

  • Still depends on an external ChatGPT or compatible model subscription to function, so it is not a fully self-contained cost
  • $599 upfront is a lot to risk on a new hardware category with no trial
  • 8GB RAM and 250GB storage are modest specs for running multiple concurrent agent sessions
