What our research says

B12

B12 is less a website builder than a starter back office for a small service business — the generated site is the front door, and intake forms, contracts, e-signature, invoicing and email marketing are what you are actually paying for. That bundle justifies $49 a month in a market where a bare site costs a fraction of it, but only if you use the rest. The $1 introductory rate makes the real number easy to miss.

Pros

  • Generates a full first-draft site from a plain description, then edits by chat
  • Bundles client intake, contact manager, contracts with e-signature and email marketing
  • Free tier publishes a real site on a b12sites.com subdomain with no card
  • Custom domain is included in the paid plan rather than billed separately

Cons

  • $49/month is steep next to general-purpose site builders if you skip the back-office tools
  • AI credits are capped per plan — 30 a month on free, 200 on the $49 tier
  • Professional and Advanced plans carry unpublished setup fees
  • Launched project counts are capped at 20 or 30 depending on tier

Framer

Framer is the builder to pick when the person shipping the site thinks in a design canvas and the site is a marketing surface — landing pages, portfolios, launch sites — rather than an application. Its AI is a layout and copy accelerator inside that canvas, not a site-in-a-click generator, and the honest cost is the seats: the $10 Basic headline becomes $30 the moment a second person needs edit rights.

Pros

  • Design canvas with real responsive breakpoints rather than fixed templates
  • Hosting, CMS, localisation and custom domain are included on paid site plans
  • AI credits come with every plan, including 500 to try on Free
  • Published pricing with no quote gate below Enterprise

Cons

  • Editor seats cost $20 each on top of the site plan
  • AI generation is metered in credits that need topping up on heavier use
  • CMS item and page caps (1,000 / 2,500 items) are tight for larger content sites
  • The pricing page shows one figure per plan under a yearly toggle, so the month-to-month price is not obvious

Which one fits

Choose B12 if you need

  • Solo professionals and small service firms needing a site plus client intake in one place
  • Anyone who wants contracts and e-signature attached to their website rather than bought separately
  • Getting a credible first draft online without a designer

Choose Framer if you need

  • Designers shipping marketing sites and landing pages without a developer
  • Startups that want hosting, CMS, localisation and a custom domain under one subscription
  • Teams prototyping in a canvas who want the prototype to become the live site
