Automates MEP tag placement and overlap avoidance for Revit documentation sets.
Autotag is a Revit add-in that places mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tags automatically instead of by hand. A user sets tagging rules once — categories, tag families, filters, and placement preferences — and applies them across any number of views; the plugin then positions tags, avoids overlaps, and can batch-process a whole documentation set. Most processing happens locally inside Revit, with only stripped-down placement data sent to a server to calculate positions. It supports Revit 2023 through 2027, including linked and workshared models. Pricing starts at $49 a month for one named-user license, rising to $199 a month for a five-license firm plan, both with a 60-day trial.
49/month covers one named-user license for freelancers; the 199/month firm plan adds four more floating seats.
Use tool ↗Autotag targets a specific, tedious Revit chore — placing and untangling MEP tags across a full drawing set — and a client testimonial claims a 90 percent cut in documentation time, which lines up with what rule-based batch tagging should achieve. It is a Revit-only add-in, so it is worthless without an active Revit and BIM workflow already in place.
Watch out: The Freelancer plan is one named-user license; a firm needing several people tagging at once has to move to the $199/month tier.
