What our research says

AI2SQL

Useful for analysts and product people who read SQL but do not write it fluently, especially against dialects they touch once a quarter. If your team already pays for a coding assistant or a BI tool with a natural-language layer, this is a duplicate line item.

Pros

  • Ten dialects including Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift and MongoDB
  • Read-only enforcement at the gateway rather than trusting the model
  • Desktop connector reaches localhost and private-network databases
  • MCP endpoint makes it callable from agent tooling

Cons

  • Entry plan caps you at 100 queries and 10 tables a month
  • Advertised trial length differs between the homepage and the pricing page
  • No free tier, and the trial requires a card
  • Company ownership and location are not disclosed anywhere on the site

Text2SQL.ai

A cheap, narrow utility for analysts and backend devs who write occasional SQL against schemas they did not design. If your team already pays for a coding assistant or a warehouse-native copilot, you almost certainly have this feature already.

Pros

  • schema upload makes output usable against real column names instead of generically shaped
  • explain and optimise modes are as useful as generation itself for code review
  • desktop app on all three OSes keeps schemas off the vendor's servers
  • API is priced transparently per request rather than through opaque credits

Cons

  • the pricing page renders client-side and third-party listings disagree on the tiers, so verifying cost takes a support ticket
  • no company name, team page or jurisdiction anywhere on the site, which matters when you are uploading schemas
  • scope is narrow: it writes SQL, it does not run or manage your analytics
  • API is throttled to 100 requests a month before per-request charges kick in

Which one fits

Choose AI2SQL if you need

  • Non-engineers pulling ad-hoc numbers from a warehouse
  • Translating a query between dialects such as Postgres and BigQuery
  • Read-only exploration where the gateway's write-blocking is a feature

Choose Text2SQL.ai if you need

  • querying an unfamiliar or inherited schema
  • explaining legacy SQL to non-engineers during review
  • translating a query between MySQL, PostgreSQL and other dialects
  • people who prefer local execution over pasting production schemas into a chat window
