Use tool ↗About TubeVocab
TubeVocab takes a YouTube video URL and pulls its real subtitles into a clickable transcript next to the player, letting learners click unfamiliar words to build AI-generated flashcards with spaced repetition review. The interface and translations are localized into more than 50 languages, so the source content can be any YouTube video while support stays in the learner's own language. Cards can sync to Anki through AnkiConnect or be exported for later import. A free tier is always available without a trial deadline, and TubeVocab Pro adds features for a flat monthly or discounted annual price. It runs in the browser and works on phones, tablets, and desktops without a separate app.

Pros & cons of TubeVocab
TubeVocab's advantage is letting a learner study from any YouTube video they already want to watch instead of a fixed library of lessons, and the always-available free tier is more generous than most competitors that gate everything behind a trial. It depends entirely on a video already having usable subtitles, so obscure or auto-caption-only videos will work less well.
Pros
- Works with any YouTube video, not a fixed content library
- Free tier has no trial deadline, unlike some competitors
- Localized into more than 50 languages
- Syncs generated cards to Anki via AnkiConnect
Cons
- Quality depends on the source video having decent subtitles
- No native mobile app, browser only
- No company or team information found during research
Best for
- Learners who want to study from YouTube videos they already enjoy watching
- Anki users who want cards generated automatically and synced over
- Budget-conscious learners comparing against pricier video-based apps
Not for
- Learners who want a structured curriculum instead of picking their own videos
- Videos without clean subtitles, where transcript quality will suffer
