Use tool ↗About Stable Audio
Stable Audio is Stability AI's text-to-music and sound-effects product. The hosted web app at stableaudio.com handles iterative creation, and every plan includes the web app plus a DAW plugin. Its current model family, Stable Audio 3.0, was trained on fully licensed data and generates tracks of up to about six minutes, with audio inpainting and extension for reworking parts of a song. Three of the models are open weights, and the largest is available through the Stability API. The hosted app is aimed at musicians, producers and sound designers, and the first version launched in September 2023.

Pros & cons of Stable Audio
A good choice for producers who care where the training data came from and want to keep their output, with a plugin that fits into a DAW. It gives you more control than a one-click song button but less singing-and-lyrics polish than vocal-focused generators.
Pros
- Models trained on fully licensed data
- Open weights for three of the 3.0 models, with output ownership under the Community License
- No cap on how many generated files you can download
- Web app, DAW plugin and API from one vendor
Cons
- Credit allowances run out quickly on the lowest tier
- The official pricing page does not render without JavaScript, so tiers are hard to verify
- Organizations over $1M revenue must move to an Enterprise license
Best for
- Producers and sound designers who want AI sketches inside their DAW
- Game and media teams needing commercially safe audio with clear licensing
- Developers who want open-weight audio models to self-host
Not for
- People who want finished songs with sung lyrics from a one-line prompt
- Large companies above $1M annual revenue who do not want to negotiate an Enterprise license
Watch out: Beware of look-alike sites such as stableaudio3 and stableaudio.net variants that are not run by Stability AI; the real service is stableaudio.com, and companies above $1M annual revenue need an Enterprise license even for self-hosted open weights.
