Use tool ↗About Ssemble
Ssemble picks highlight moments out of long-form YouTube videos and renders them as vertical shorts with auto-captions and face tracking, then posts or schedules the results to TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels. It is aimed at clippers and creators repurposing existing channels rather than people editing from scratch; the earlier general-purpose collaborative editor has been reframed around this clipping workflow. Plans are credit-based, with one credit covering a segment of up to 20 minutes, and every paid tier includes the API, which also ships as an MCP server for AI assistants and as webhooks for n8n, Zapier and Make.

Pros & cons of Ssemble
One of the cheaper ways to batch-convert a YouTube back catalog into shorts, and built-in posting means clips do not pile up unpublished. Credits expire each cycle and the entry plan connects only one social account, which pushes multi-platform creators up a tier.
Pros
- Clip detection, captions and face tracking happen in one pass
- Direct posting and scheduling to the three main short-form platforms
- API included on every paid plan
- Low entry price on annual billing
Cons
- No free tier on the current pricing page
- Unused credits vanish at the end of the billing cycle
- Entry plan connects a single social account
Best for
- Clippers monetizing other channels' long-form content
- YouTubers repurposing their own archive into Shorts and Reels
- Small teams that want clipping and scheduling in one product
Not for
- Editors who need a full timeline for original video production
- Occasional users who dislike expiring credit systems
Watch out: Ssemble previously marketed itself as a collaborative online video editor with a plugin marketplace; it is now framed almost entirely around YouTube-to-shorts clipping, so older reviews describe a different product.
