The SnapEDA symbol, footprint and 3D-model library is free to download. A part not in the library is built to order through InstaPart for $29 (up to 100 pins, delivered in one business day), or less in bulk credit packs from $135 for 5. The Copilot AI is still early-access signup with no public price.
Use tool ↗About SnapMagic
SnapMagic (formerly SnapEDA) is an AI copilot for electronics design: it auto-completes circuit designs from natural-language descriptions, recommends reference designs when a part is placed, and optimizes a bill of materials for cost or power efficiency. It flags component shortages with alternate parts from live distributor data and plugs into CAD tools including Altium, Fusion 360, and KiCad. Its free library of symbols, footprints, and 3D models is used by more than a million engineers, including teams at NASA, Apple, and Samsung. Founded in 2013 as SnapEDA by Natasha Baker, the company went through Y Combinator and rebranded to SnapMagic in 2023 when it added the AI copilot.

Pros & cons of SnapMagic
SnapMagic's free component library, carried over from its SnapEDA years, is the long-established part of the business, used by over a million engineers; the AI copilot layered on top is newer and was still in early access at the time of this review, with no published price. The BOM optimization and shortage-alert features are the most concrete differentiators for engineers who already deal with supply-chain headaches.
Pros
- Free, permanent library of symbols, footprints, and 3D models with over a million engineer users
- Integrates directly with major CAD tools (Altium, Fusion 360, KiCad)
- BOM optimization and component-shortage alerts pull from live supplier data
Cons
- Copilot AI feature is still early-access only with no public pricing
- Custom parts cost $29 each (up to 100 pins), so a board full of missing parts adds up unless you buy credit packs
- Only useful to engineers already working in supported CAD tools
Best for
- Electronics engineers needing free, verified CAD symbols and footprints
- Teams wanting BOM cost or power optimization and shortage alerts tied to live distributor data
Not for
- Anyone wanting to evaluate the Copilot AI feature today - it was early-access only, with no public pricing
- Non-electronics use cases; this is EE and PCB-specific tooling
