Practice management for small law firms where agents draft, file and chase, and the lawyer approves
Referent is case-management software for solo and boutique law firms in which routine admin is handled by agents that queue actions for a lawyer to approve rather than acting on their own. It takes intake enquiries and opens matters from them, files incoming Gmail to the right matter, drafts correspondence and documents, tracks deadlines, assembles billing and sends follow-ups, with Google Calendar and Drive connected and Microsoft 365 listed as coming. There are iOS and Android apps. It is built by AI Lawtech sp. z o.o. of Radom, Poland, the team behind the consumer product AI Lawyer, and access is still gated: the first beta cohort took 20 firms from more than 450 applications, and no price is published anywhere on the site.

Use tool ↗The design decision that matters here is the approval gate: agents prepare intake, filing, drafts, deadlines and billing, but nothing leaves the firm until a lawyer signs off, which is the only shape of automation most practices can actually accept. Pitching it at solos and small firms rather than enterprise legal is sensible, since that is where admin overhead is worst. It is also early — beta-gated, no published pricing, and Microsoft 365 support still unshipped, which rules out most Outlook-based firms today.
Watch out: Client-confidential matter data would sit with an early-stage vendor — check the DPA, sub-processor list and data-residency terms against your bar's rules before uploading a live matter.
