What our research says

Poe

Poe makes sense if you want to compare frontier models side by side without paying each vendor, and the custom-bot layer is a cheap way to publish a prompt as a product. The catch is the points meter: one subscription buys wildly different quantities of use depending on which bot you pick, and per-bot costs are Poe's to change, so the plan you buy is not necessarily the plan you keep.

Pros

  • One subscription spans models from several vendors plus image and video generators
  • Custom bots can be built from a prompt and shared or monetised
  • Apps on web, iOS, Android, Mac and Windows
  • A creator API exists for developers

Cons

  • Points pricing makes real capacity hard to predict across models
  • Per-bot point costs and allowances are set by Poe and change over time
  • The home page blocks automated access and the subscription page shows regional prices, so USD figures could not be confirmed from the vendor
  • No team or enterprise tier is visible

Shogo AI

Shogo has moved from a business-process agent builder to a general AI workspace that wants to replace your coding agent, meeting notetaker, team chat and chatbot subscriptions at once. The open-source, self-hostable code and the low $8 entry are real strengths; the breadth of the pitch means each part has to be tested against the specialist tool it claims to replace.

Pros

  • Open-source code (AGPL server, MIT SDKs) with a self-hosting option and no lock-in to one model lab
  • Low entry price at $8 a month, with per-seat Pro and Business plans and a free tier
  • One workspace for chat, meetings, app building and model routing
  • Overage is opt-in, billed at provider cost plus 20 percent under a hard cap

Cons

  • 'Unlimited' paid use is bounded by five-hour and weekly windows whose sizes are not stated in numbers
  • The positioning changed recently, so there is little independent track record for the current version
  • Breadth across chat, meetings and coding makes depth in any one area unproven without hands-on testing

Which one fits

Choose Poe if you need

  • People who want several vendors' models under one login and one bill
  • Creators publishing custom bots without hosting anything
  • Comparing model answers side by side before committing to one vendor

Choose Shogo AI if you need

  • Individuals and small teams paying for several AI subscriptions who want one bill and model choice
  • Teams that want an agent workspace they can inspect and self-host
  • Founders who want agents to build and deploy small internal apps
