What our research says

Piktochart

A veteran template tool that got AI generation bolted on rather than rebuilt around it, which is mostly a good thing: the templates are the product and the prompt just gives you a starting draft. Cheaper than Canva at the entry tier, but the free plan is tight enough that two downloads a month makes it a trial, not a plan.

Pros

  • Template library built specifically for infographics and data-heavy reports
  • AI drafts infographics, decks, flyers and banners from a text prompt
  • Brand assets and shared team workspaces on paid tiers
  • Entry paid tier at $10 per member/month annually undercuts most rivals
  • Bootstrapped and profitable since 2011, so no shutdown risk from a funding cliff

Cons

  • Free tier is limited to 1 GB storage and two PNG downloads a month
  • No API and no programmatic generation
  • Priced per member, so team cost scales linearly
  • The site blocks automated readers, so pricing had to be verified indirectly

Ridvay

The differentiator is the output format: SVG and PPTX exports mean you can fix the AI's typography instead of regenerating until it stops misspelling things. The free tier is genuinely usable — five AI designs a day, no watermark — and the paid step is under seven euros. The trade-off is scope: it is a small European studio, not a design suite with brand kits, team libraries or an API.

Pros

  • Exports editable SVG and PPTX in addition to PNG, JPG and PDF
  • Free plan exports without a watermark and does not expire
  • Includes map and diagram editors and an AI image generator alongside the design studio
  • Terms name a real registered entity (Ridvay SIA, Latvia) and the UI runs in eight languages

Cons

  • Pricing is euro-only with VAT included, so the dollar cost varies with the exchange rate
  • AI video exports are metered tightly — 5/month on Plus, 20/month on Ultimate
  • Ultimate's unlimited AI designs are governed by an unspecified fair-use limit

Which one fits

Choose Piktochart if you need

  • Reports and infographics where a chart-heavy template beats a blank canvas
  • Non-designers in marketing, HR or education producing recurring visual documents
  • Small teams that want brand colours and fonts locked into shared templates

Choose Ridvay if you need

  • Making a one-off poster, flyer or thumbnail you then want to hand-correct
  • People who need PPTX or SVG out the other end rather than a flattened PNG
  • Solo creators who want unwatermarked exports without paying anything
